Joshua and Marie Hamaker

Clay is the medium with which we bring life to our imagination.

Wheel thrown or hand built, Joshua and Marie create functional and sculptural ceramic works with color and texture fired in a variety of methods including: wood, pit, raku, and electric. Marie loves to bring in elements of nature by sculpting realistic animals, but glazed in vibrant colors. Joshua loves to combine wheel thrown elements into large sets of matching functional dishes.

Married in 2005, Joshua and Marie enjoy not only working in their clay studio, but also working on their large gardens on their property in Ohio. They spend hours outside enjoying the sounds and smells of nature hunting for fossils and adding to their growing rock collection. It is among the trees that Marie and Joshua find their greatest inspiration. Marie, a retired public school teacher, currently teaches adjunct at UC Clermont in their arts department. Joshua still works full time as a software consultant. Together they are raising two daughters and also share their home with two lovable dogs.
